As you will recall a couple of months ago, we introduced Calandel Cotes du Rhone 2007 from Philippe Cambie, a wine that Robert Parker rated 92 points and called “an absolutely brilliant wine…” Calandel is made solely for the US market and is a partnership of Philippe and one of the many noteworthy estates that he makes the wines of. In this case Philippe partnered with Domaine des Escavarailles. Other property’s that Cambie consults or makes/made the wines of are: Clos Saint Jean, Saint Prefert, Le Clos du Caillou, Tardieu-Laurent, Feraud-Brunel, Giraud, Vieux Donjon, Les Caillou, Bosquet des Papes, Clos du Mont Olivet and many more… Les Halos de Jupiter is a new project from Philippe that produces a range of wines from the Southern Rhone Valley with every step of the wine’s evolution carefully tended to by Philippe. The Chateauneuf du Pape is 100% old vine Grenache (over 100 years old) sourced from the prized “La Crau” vineyard. A stellar wine that has already caught the attention of Robert Parker (93-95pts), the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape is a great buy; but the real value and superb price to quality ratio comes from the rest of the line-up!
