El Tocador Tempranillo Old Vines

Clear deep ruby-purple color. Distinctive aromas with notes of black cherries and blueberry jam. The taste of berry jam gives juiciness to the wine, light vanilla and delicate chocolate and roasted coffee bean. In the mouth the wine is dry, full of firm but ripe velvety tannins and a long aftertaste.

An old legend says that long ago in a remote village in the heart of Spain there were the best vineyards one could ever remember. These vineyards belonged to a knight known as El Tocador. A few centuries later, the vineyards were found and it was decided to honor El Tocador with this wine.

The vines of this wine are more than 30 years old and grow in an extreme continental climate with long hot summers. The yields per hectare are low; 25 hl/ha and the wine is extremely concentrated. The vines grow like a shrub, of which only the top is pruned. After harvest, maceration takes place for 48 hours at a temperature of 5°C. Fermentation takes place for 12-18 days at a temperature of 24-28 °C. The wine rests and develops for another 6 months in used French oak barrels.
