Artesis Côtes du Rhone Rouge Ogier 2023
Artesis Côtes du Rhone Rouge Ogier
Delicious with meat dishes, game and strong, aged cheeses.
The history of Ogier dates back to 1859, but it was only in 1948 that wine-growing began. The beautiful buildings of the winery are in Roman style. The cellars in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where the wine is produced and matured, date from the 20th century. They are undoubtedly the oldest cellars in the southern Rhône valley. In 2006, Ogier fully committed to sustainability and all vineyards are grown organically.
The grapes are harvested manually and partially destemmed. Fermentation takes place under controlled temperatures. The wine then matures for 8 months partly on concrete and in wooden foeders.
The vineyards are located in the southern Rhône valley in the Vaucluse and the Gard. The grapes are selected from vineyards located on the Villafrancien terraces of St Marcel d'Ardèche, on the hills of Avignon and Roquemaure. The soil contains sand from the Aigues Valley and layered stones on Plan de Dieu slopes.
Patience, knowledge, observation and intuition are essential qualities for creating and maturing Ogier wines. The Ogier team has had this goal in mind for about 150 years. The passionate quest for making beautiful wines from the Rhône Valley originated in the prestigious vineyards of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Ogier has the largest appellations from the Rhône Valley in their old cellars. The 2021 vintage is certified organic.
